Social Action

Our purpose is to create disciples active in the world. We believe that our faith call us to action. It demands a response in the world. The United Church, through our ministries and partners around the world is a church rooted in social justice. Our community of faith expresses that call in many ways, from foodbanks to climate action to gender equality to reconciliation. We believe the gospel calls us to right relationships with our neighbours and creation.

Caring for Creating

Part of the United Church creed "a new creed" says "to live with respect in creation". We see ourselves as stewards of this creation, entrusted to us by the creator.

Poverty and Food Security

Helping those in need in Winnipeg and around the World

SMRUC has operated a foodbank for over 25 years. It is one of our core outreach ministries. We work with organizations like the United Church Mission and Service Fund to support poverty initiatives, and more directly though groups like Score Against Poverty.

Reconciliation

Right Relationships with First Nations

For more than thirty years, the United Church and Indigenous peoples have been on a journey towards mutuality, respect and equity.
